OUR MISSION
To provide a positive environment for learning where students can receive enrichment, remediation, tutoring, and standardized test preparation from experienced, caring and professional educators.
OUR GOAL AND PHILOSOPHY
The goal of Tutor Center is to help develop students of all abilities into more competent and self-confident learners. We believe that learning occurs most effectively when:
- The level of material being learned corresponds exactly to the student's level of ability.
- The rate of progress is determined by the students, not by the teacher.
- The material to be learned is organized into a naturally coherent and logical progression.
OUR TEACHERS
Each of our experienced and highly qualified instructors cares about the education of children and is dedicated to helping each student achieve academic success, gain self-confidence, and become a motivated learner. Teachers are paired with students based on their specialties, and to create a stable and consistent learning environment, all attempts are made to maintain these pairings.

Academic skills are the stepping stones to success for children of all grade levels. By teaching these skills, Tutor Center helps children achieve success that will last a lifetime.
ELEMENTS OF OUR EDUCATIONAL PLAN
Our tutoring program process consists of a diagnostic skills assessment, individualized tutoring instruction, and an effective motivational system that builds students’ skills and helps them gain the desire and confidence to learn. This procedure ensures the quality, consistency and accountability of our program so that no time is spent tutoring your child in areas that are already mastered.
- Skills Assessment
A comprehensive battery of subject-specific, standardized tests is performed to assess the student’s baseline skills and find optimal and comfortable starting point for study. An in-depth analysis of the test results is done and a personalized learning program is developed to address his or her academic needs, short- term and long- term goals, and parental objectives.
This customized tutoring program designed specifically for your child’s needs, is chosen from a library of more than 5,000 lessons, using materials from nationally recognized educational publishers.
- Instruction Sessions
A combination of our direct instruction, guided and independent practice ensures that your child receives the guidance needed to develop as a successful, independent learner. The frequency of weekly sessions and the length of the program are determined by each student’s specific goals and needs, as identified by assessment test.
Student progress is reviewed and lesson plans are updated after every tutoring session. As soon as a new skill is mastered, the student moves to the next level in the subject matter. This keeps the tutoring program interesting and challenging to guarantee the best results for your child.
- A Positive Learning Environment
We know that confidence and motivation are vital to academic success. Our motivational techniques combine positive reinforcement, goal-setting and incentives to reward effort and progress. Our tutors give constant praise and encouragement to students for their accomplishments.
Students earn reward points for completing daily tasks. The number of points earned is based on the difficulty of the activity, the effort put forth, and the tutor's overall assessment. Tokens are awarded for the points and can be redeemed at TOKEN CORNER, a store at Tutor Center stocked with rewards that kids are excited about earning.
The last five to ten minutes of each instructional session is reserved for transitional activities. During this time students redeem Tokens or play games with other students as a reward for hard work.
- Progress
It is a priority at the Center to maintain an open flow of communication with parents. Parents are informed of their child’s progress through frequent, informal conferences with teachers as well as periodic progress reports. This information helps you and the teacher support your child and ensure success. Parents are also encouraged to communicate with the Center’s staff to share their observations, needs, or concerns.
This prescription for success is unique to TUTOR CENTER and has proven to build student skills, confidence and motivation unlike any other tutoring program.
